Does ClaimMoney work in the UK?

The United States runs an opt-in claim culture: a settlement is announced, a claims administrator opens a form, and anyone who does not file gets nothing. The UK's collective proceedings regime is frequently opt-out, the class representative brings the claim on behalf of everyone who fits the definition, and if it succeeds, distribution reaches eligible consumers without each person having had to submit a form in advance.

That is why UK consumers hear far less about "filing claims". Large UK actions against technology platforms, mobile networks and payment schemes have proceeded this way.

Check whether an active collective claim already covers you. The Competition Appeal Tribunal publishes a register of proceedings, and most large claims run a public information site explaining the class definition. Where a claim is opt-out, registering your details early simply makes it easier for the administrator to pay you later.

Separately from litigation, the UK has free schemes for tracing money you already own. My Lost Account searches dormant bank accounts, building society accounts and National Savings & Investments holdings at no cost. The government's Unclaimed Estates list covers estates that passed to the Crown. The Pension Tracing Service finds workplace pensions from former employers, which is where the largest forgotten sums usually sit.

Every one of these is free to search. Firms that charge a percentage to reunite you with your own dormant account are charging for a public lookup.
